A lot of people like the idea of change more than change itself.
To succeed, we have to look at what successful people do and try to copy them a little bit.
You wont grow and develop if you’re not willing to get uncomfortable.
Comfort is easy, comfort is where you feel safe and away from harm.
Comfort is also where anxiety and depression lies.
Successful people will often take action regardless of their feelings.
Action eliminates fear.
At times, it’s ok not to take action, maybe you’re just not ready to commit.
Making a change in your life will require sacrifice and you might not have any space in your life to give anything up.
It can be difficult and you have a lot going on so why mess that up?
It’s ok to wait a little.
The question you have to ask yourself though is, how long are you going to be unhappy with something in your life before you have to get uncomfortable?
Are you out of shape and have no motivation?
The longer you leave it, the harder it will be.
That’s probably the reason you’re sitting their out of shape.
Motivation comes and goes but habits last a lot longer.
Habits ensure you do what you have to do regardless of motivation.
The issue is that people start too big to succeed.
If it’s been too long since the last time you done anything remarkable then the chances are you’re aiming too high.
There’s nothing wrong with lofty goals, you should stretch yourself outside that comfort zone.
You just have to be realistic in the process.
No one will think less of you if you’re making progress.
Successful people aren’t usually genetic freaks or unbelievably talented.
They usually just practice more than others.
Do the small things more often that lead to bigger things.
How do you run a marathon?
You don’t start by running 42.2km.
You start by doing 1-5km.
Then build from there.
After a few months, you’re at the finish line after completing a big goal.
Your goal doesn’t have to be a marathon. It can be financial, it can be a big relationship goal or a massive purpose driven goal.
Regardless of what it is, you have to start with the small fundamental habits to build the foundations to succeed.
Once you put all these small things together on a regular basis, you will quickly see motivation fading away and autopilot taking over.
If it’s about losing weight, you might find yourself walking more or eating less without thinking about it.
If you’re saving, you might find yourself making smarter buying and saving decisions over time and wondering why.
It’s because you started small.
You didn’t overwhelm yourself with overly complex and huge goals.
